Ahoy, Mates! Saint Louis High and Mililani Middle Schools Take First Place in Meadow Gold Milk Carton Regatta

Student teams from 27 Oahu schools competed in ninth annual event.

HONOLULU- Meadow Gold Dairies of Hawaii's Ninth Annual Milk Carton Regatta drew 40 student teams from across Oahu on Saturday, April 23, at Ala Moana Beach Park to compete for prizes. But it was teams from Saint Louis High School and Mililani Middle School that took home first-place honors and a $1,000 CompUSA gift certificate.

The regatta gives students the opportunity to apply what they've learned in science and industrial arts classes in a real-world project by designing, building, testing and racing a boat made almost entirely of milk cartons. Students built and raced in two-person boats they built using Meadow Gold and/or VIVA half-gallon milk cartons, wood and lots of tape. The regatta also provides an enjoyable way for students to learn about teamwork and develop school spirit, while learning about the health and nutritional value of Meadow Gold dairy products.

Student teams competed in middle school and high school divisions and the winners were as follows:
