Physical Activity & Health Tips
While television and video games are the most popular forms of entertainment for youngsters these days, moms can do a lot to help kids learn to love active entertainment.
Moms who do active things with their kids get the benefit of exercise and family time at the same time. Here are some ideas for things to do with your children that will show them the value of exercise and an active lifestyle.
Ask your children to write down their favorite activities and make a point to take time to do it with them. If your child writes that he loves to ride his bike, take time for the two of you to ride around the neighborhood on a regular basis.
Start family traditions like a backyard game of kickball or Wiffle®ball that involves everyone. Make the game ongoing so there's always another "inning" to play. After dinner, the teams can play for one or two innings. Or set up a short "season" over a certain month.
Take your kids with you on errands that you can walk or ride bikes to, such as dropping off film to be developed or going to the post office to mail letters or buy stamps.
