Meadow Gold Dairies Hawai'i offers schools The Build Your Bones with Calcium Show, a FREE, highly interactive one-hour show to educate 3rd through 5th grade students on calcium, bone health, and nutrition. Performed by Chief Mad Scientist Kosmic Kelly of Mad Science of Hawai'i and Meadow Gold's Lani Moo, the show tours statewide year-round.

Introduced in February 2004, the Build Your Bones show uses visually appealing scientific elements and assistance from students to teach them about calcium and its impact on bones, teeth, and osteoporosis; the affect on other functions such as muscle development, blood clotting, and the nervous system; and finding calcium in nutritious foods.

The Build Your Bones Show can be interrelated with lessons focusing on nutrition, healthy lifestyles, chemistry, and physical education. Students will learn vocabulary including bones, calcium, fortified, enamel, curds, whey, Daily Nutritional Requirement, mineral, and nutrient.

Teachers are provided with a Hawai'i Food Pyramid for the classroom, and a handbook containing information and activities on calcium, bone health, nutrition, and dairy foods that can be used as a reference for lessons after the show.

Because The Build Your Bones Show involves student participation, it is best suited for two to three classes per performance. However, the show can accommodate up to 100 students and can be presented in a classroom or assembly room. Only 12 shows are performed per month, so sign up today!
